New Delhi, Dec 21 (Bureau) India’s production of crude oil during November, 2021 hit another low at 2431.44 thousand metric tonnes (TMT), a 6.89 per cent shortfall from the target for the month and 2.22 per cent lower than the production of November, 2020. Keeping to the trend, natural gas production in the country during November 2021 rose 23.09 per cent year-on-year at 2869.47 MMSCM, but fell 12.8 per cent from the monthly target. Cumulative production during April-November 2021 was 22777.21 MMSCM, which is 21.78 per cent higher than production during corresponding period of last year, but 7.9 per cent lower when compared with target for the period.

Cumulative crude oil production by ONGC during April-November, 2021 was 12943.41 TMT, which is 4.32 per cent and 4.18 per cent lower than target for the period and production during the corresponding period of last year respectively. Production fell due to less than anticipated production from WO-16 cluster due to delay in mobilisation of MOPU Sagar Samrat. There was also less production from Cluster-8 fields as installation of well-head platforms got delayed due to Covid impact and loss in oil production in Ratna & R-Series was due to delay in H2S package at R-13A wells. Increase in water cut and decline in liquid production in Gandhar field in Ankleshwar also led to the decline in oil production. For Oil India, crude oil production in the nomination block during November 2021 was 241.42 TMT, which is 9.5% lower than target of the month and 0.73% lower when compared with production of November 2020.
The cumulative crude oil production by OIL during April-November 2021 was 1989.49 TMT, which is 0.21% higher than the production during corresponding period of last year but 4.06% lower than target for the period. Less than planned contribution from workover wells and drilling wells, less than planned due to local disturbance and miscreants activities in main producing area were the reasons for shortfall in production. Crude oil production by private and joint venture companies in the PSC/RSC regime during November 2021 was 591.80 TMT, which is 10.37% lower than the target of the reporting and 0.66% lower than the month production of November 2020. Cumulative crude oil production by the companies during April-November 2021 was 4935.52 TMT, which is 0.04% marginally higher than the production during corresponding period of last year but 4.65% lower than target for the period. Among the reasons for the shortfall in production are delay in commencement of production of Hindustan Oil Exploration Company’s MB/OSDSF/B80/2016 block, less water injection in RC-4ST and RC-11z producer wells of RAVVA block of Cairn Energy India and natural decline, increase in water cut observed in aquifer supported pools and Recent sanding/loading issues in the CB-OS/2 wells of the company.
