New Delhi, Dec 20 (Mayank Nigam) Infosys Founder N. R. Narayan Murthy on Sunday said creation of more jobs is the only solution to remove poverty and help the less privileged ones of the society. Addressing at the silver jubilee year celebrations of the GMR Institute of Technology (GMRIT) here, Mr Murthy said “The young minds should develop the mindset to bring change in the society, learn to put interest of the public, society, and nation first, above their own personal interest.” Citing the example of GMR Group Chairman G M Rao, he asked the students to take inspiration from him and “become an entrepreneur whenever possible and create more jobs. Earlier, the Infosys Founder interacted with the students and researchers of the prestigious institute on the occasion. Mr Murthy said Reality is what you make. “In India, reality means corruption, dirty roads, pollution and many times no power. However, reality in Singapore means clean road, no pollution and lots of power.
Therefore, it is your responsibility to create that new reality”, he added. The Infosys Founder said one should look for each lacuna as an opportunity for change and imagines yourself to be a leader, don’t wait for somebody else to do that. During his visit to the institution, Mr. Murthy was given a presentation by the CEO of GMRVF, Mr Ashwani Lohani, on the Foundation’s activities. He also visited the sprawling campus of the GMR Institute of Technology Campus, GMR Varalakshmi CARE Hospital and the Nagavali Institute of Rural Entrepreneurship Development (NIRED) Vocational Training Center. The GMRIT, at Rajam in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijainagaram district, run by the GMR Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm – GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), is celebrating its 25th year of inception. The GMRVF has been active in different fields, including education, healthcare, empowerment, livelihood, community development and bringing sustainable development to society for over 30 years.
Speaking on the occasion, GMR Group Chairman Mr. G M Rao said, “We are honoured to host one of India’s legendary entrepreneurs, N R Narayana Murthy at the GMRIT campus. He has been an inspiration and motivation for aspiring youth. You are an inspiration for my team, all the students and the faculty.” He said he was inspired by P D K Rao, who left his job and was working for the betterment of the society, and founded GMR Varalakshmi Foundation. “We, at GMR, strongly believe in entrepreneurship; it is one of our Values and Beliefs, he said GMRVF has been working to develop entrepreneurial skills among underprivileged youth. We are working with such youth and helping them by providing opportunities to set up their own enterprise, he said. “ I am sure the thoughts shared by Narayana Murthy will definitely inspire and motivate the young minds to achieve success and use their success for the benefit of the society,” Mr Rao added.
