Agriculture sector should be rendered all kind of support: Venkaiah

Motihari, Nov 07 (Bureau) Vice President Venaiah Naidu today called upon for providing all sorts of assistance to agriculture sector, saying it is not only backbone of economy but also our culture. Mr Naidu while addressing 2nd convocation of Rajendra Prasad Central Agriculture University (RPCAU) here at Piprakothi, said that agriculture was most strong pillar of Indian economy. Infact, agriculture was not only the backbone of economy but it was also our culture, he added. Vice President said it was heartening to note that RPCAU was encouraging research and innovation, which were immensely needed to give a strong boost to agriculture sector. He called upon the students and other experts of agriculture to reach more and more panchayats in Bihar and other parts of the country.

Farmers should be made aware about latest techniques of agriculture for increasing the productivity, he added. Mr Naidu said that start up venture of students passing out from Agriculture University should be encouraged. Tourism should be encouraged in such new areas where people could get the glimpses of flora, fauna, natural beauties besides first hand information about latest development in agriculture. Vice President said that for sustainable development, the potential of vast agriculture sector should be tapped taking into consideration of social and ecological components. During Corona pandemic, trend of reverse migration was noticed and agriculture sector could be helpful in providing them jobs, he added.
