Mumbai, Apr 16 (Agency) The BSE Sensex on Friday almost ended on a steady note at 48,832.03, registering a small gain of 28.35 pts on the strength of Health Care, Consumer Durable, Power and Materials stocks. The Nifty too rose by 36.40 pts to 14,617.85. High fluctuation was witnessed during the day, as the Sensex opened higher by 132 pts to 48,935.74. It surged by 286 pts to 49,089.55, days high, before closing at 48,832.03, up 28 pts from its previous close. Meanwhile, it was slipped nearly 209 pts to 48,694.49, days low. The sensex registered days high and low at 49,089.55 and 48,694.49 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,697.70 and 14,559 pts respectively. The sectoral indices like Health Care, Consumer Durable, Utensils, Power and Materials stocks kept the rally for the third straight session. Scrips that moved up were Asian Paints by more than 3 pc. In scrips, Ultracemco, ONGC, M& M and Sun Pharma went up by more than 2 pc each. The Mid Cap rose by 1.17 pc and Small Cap by 1.05 pc. In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.
