Mumbai, Apr 22 (FN Agency) Snapping a losing streak of last two sessions, the BSE Sensexon Thursday jumped 374.87 pts to close high at 48,080.67 on the strength of Bankex, Finance, Realty, Metal and Materials stocks. The Nifty too rose by 109.75 pts to 14,406.15. The equity market remained volatile today. The day opened on a weak note at 47,501.71, fell by 204 pts. It was tanked nearly 501 pts to 47,204.50 days low. In late trade, it bounced back 438 pts to 48,143.16 days high, before closing at 48,080.67, surging 374.87 pts from its previous close.
The sensex registered days high and low at 48,143.16 and 47,204.50 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,424.75 and 14,151.40 pts respectively. Sectoral indices like Finance, Bankex, Metal, Materials and Realty came forward to support the market. In scrips, ICICI Bank, HDFC, Bajaj Auto, HDFC Bank and SBI gained while Titan, Hind Unilever, Asian Paints, Nestle India and Ultracemco dipped that restricted from further gains, broker said. The Mid Cap moved up by 0.28 pc and Small Cap by 0.59 pc. In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.
