Demand for portable houses for construction workers raised in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Mar 17 (FN Bureau) Members of Rajya Sabha on Wednesday demanded better housing facility for the labourers at the construction sites. Calling attention of the Government, the BJP lawmaker Mahesh Poddar demanded said, “Some farmers protesting at Delhi borders are constructing permanent structures, while we do not pay attention to construction workers who spend their lives under tin sheds”.

He also said that the during coronavirus pandemic, their living condition has come to the nation’s notice and said that the portable houses should be constructed for the construction workers at the sites with all basic facilities. Raising the issue of tourism in Marathawada, the NCP Member MsFauzia Khan asked that special attention be paid to Marathawada area in Maharashtra.

She said that generally, the percentage of tourists for religious purposes was said to be 30-35percent. “However, in Marathawada in Maharashtra, there is Shirdi which is visited by many people who worship Sai Baba, but the Patri at Parbani which is said to be the birthplace of Sai Baba should also be developed on the similar lines of the Shirdi and to promote tourism, more facilities like luxury trains should be introduced in the Marathawada region and special attention needs to be paid to this area”.
