New Delhi, July 4 (FN Representative) Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) will take the lead and play the role of a catalyst and game changer in the emerging geopolitical global order with the power of language.Speaking after inaugurating the Amphitheatre and the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex-cum-Auditorium in EFLU campus, here, on Monday, Pradhan said “Knowledge and ideas enjoy supremacy, while the language plays an instrumental role in the 21st Century. This is where the reputable institutions like the EFLU have a great role”.
The Minister also emphasized the importance of promoting local languages at the global level and added that language is the instrument of a transformative pathway.Pradhan also called for training the downtrodden in multilingualism so as to enable them to compete at the global level.Referring to the role of the EFL University in terms of students and professionals going abroad, the minister asked the university to hone the skills of the students to meet the global standards and excel in their chosen fields.The Minister appreciated the EFLU for its role in taking the lead in the implementation of the National Education Policy-2020.Pradhan said that the Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Education to launch 200 more tv channels to promote digital education and the ministry will soon have a total of 260 educational tv channels.
Rajya Sabha Member Dr K Laxman, who was the guest of honour at the event, highlighted the Central government’s transformative initiatives in the field of education.EFLU Vice Chancellor and Member, UGC, Prof Suresh Kumar listed out the initiatives of the university like the University Social Responsibility.“The EFL University is in the forefront of the implementation of the NEP-2020 and is coordinating its implementation in a total of 11 universities,” he said.The Vice Chancellor stated that the new facilities like the Open Amphitheatre and the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex-cum-Auditorium will be of immense use to the students, teachers, staff and others in the campus.Earlier, the Minister also launched the Open Language Learning Resources (OLLRs) developed in five foreign languages that include Chinese, German, Spanish, French, and Japanese.
