Cuttack, May 18 (FN Agency) As many as 96.04 per cent of the 5,21,44 students who appeared for the annual High School Certificate Examination (HSCE) 2023 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) have passed the examination. Declaring the result of Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Pramila Mallik on Thursday, the Minister said this year the girls have outshone the boys. While the pass percentage of boys was 95.75 per cent, the pass percentage of girls was 97.05 per cent. As many as 2254 girls have secured more than 90 per cent marks against 1904 boys who have secured above 90 per cent marks. While 4,158 students have passed the examination in A1 grade, 29,938 passed in A2 grade, 77,567 students passed in B1 grade and 1,18,752 students passed the examination in B2 grade.
Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts have recorded the highest pass percentage of 97.99 per cent and Malkangiri district has the lowest pass percentage of 92.68 per cent. As many as 3222 schools have shown one hundred per cent results. The annual HSCE summative exam II was conducted from March 10 to 20 last. The result of the Summative Exam-1 was declared in January last. The Minister said the date for the supplementary examination would be declared soon. She said the government is also actively considering a proposal to do away with the Summative exam model introduced in the wake of covid and to return to the old system of examination. A decision in this regard would be taken soon.
