Delhi, Oct 25 (FN Representative) Tarini Prasad Mohanty of M/s T. P. Mohanty, Mines owner & Franchisee of Hockey Team named Team Gonasika, Odisha along with Dilip Tirky, President of Hockey India at the statue of Late Dhyanchand at National Dhyanchand Stadium, Delhi. Mr Mohanty also met with Hon’ ble Sports Minister Mansukh L. Mandaviya and Vice President of Germany at National Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Delhi. He was also with his Hockey team Gonasika members. Mr Mohanty’s journey from the mining industry to sports ownership showcases his entrepreneurial spirit and deep love for his home state, Odisha. Hailing from Keonjhar, known for its mineral wealth, Mohanty has established himself as one of the most successful and innovative figures in the mining world. His business empire is a testament to his vision for efficiency, innovation, and environmental responsibility. Under his leadership, Mohanty’s mining company has set new standards for sustainable practices, including advanced methods like wet drilling and dust suppression systems to minimize environmental impact. His commitment to resource management has ensured not only the success of his company but also significantly contributed to the economic growth of Keonjhar.

However, it’s his latest venture into the world of sports that reveals a new dimension to Mohanty’s ambition—a venture that combines his business acumen with his passion for giving back to the community. Mohanty’s acquisition of the hockey franchise team Gonasaika in the Hockey India League (HIL) is a bold step in the sports world. For Mohanty, hockey is not just a game; it is a cultural pillar in Odisha, a state that has produced world-class players and holds a special place in the history of the sport. By purchasing the team, formerly known as Ranchi Rhinos, he aims to elevate Odisha’s already renowned legacy in hockey to new heights. Renaming the team to Gonasaika is a tribute to Mohanty’s roots in Keonjhar, inspired by the sacred Gonasaika River in the region. Though the team will play under the banner of Visakhapatnam, its identity is closely tied to Odisha’s hockey heritage. Mohanty’s investment in the team symbolizes his pride in his home state and his commitment to nurturing local talent. The Visakhapatnam-based Hockey India League (HIL) franchise Gonasaika launched its men’s team logo on Saturday, featuring four players from Odisha: Neelam Sanjeep Jess, Birendra Lakra, Dipson Tirkey, and Anmol Ekka. This move is not just a business venture but a heartfelt effort to give back to the community. Mohanty’s vision for the team goes beyond winning championships—it’s about creating a platform for the next generation of hockey stars from Odisha, a state that has given the world legendary players.
