UAE sends 3 planes with humanitarian aid

Dubai, Oct 18 (Agency) The United Arab Emirates has sent three planes with humanitarian aid to Lebanon and Syria this week to help those affected by Israel’s military actions against the Hezbollah movement, the UAE Foreign Ministry said. The planes carried 120 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including medical supplies, food, ambulances, and tents, the ministry said, adding that two planes were sent to Lebanon, and one to Syria.

The deliveries also include other relief supplies provided in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the ministry added. Since October 1, Israel has been conducting a ground operation against Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon while continuing airstrikes. Despite losses, Hezbollah has been fighting Israeli troops on the ground and launching rockets across the border. Israel says its main objective is to create conditions for the return of 60,000 residents who fled shelling in the north.
