Bhubaneswar, Oct 3 (FN Bureau) Odisha’s rich history and strategic location position the state as a leading investment destination, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday said and invited Ambassadors of 34 countries to explore the state as an investment destination. Addressing the Ambassadors’ Meet in Delhi, Majhi emphasized the state’s abundant natural resources and skilled workforce. He invited ambassadors from 34 countries to attend the upcoming “Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025,” which he said would serve as a platform for collaboration and growth. Odisha, the Chief Minister said, is now an emerging destination for investments from diverse sectors and Bhubaneswar, the state capital , he said evolving into a hub of technology, innovation, and culture, while maintaining its status as the “Temple City of India,” preserving the essence of our spiritual heritage.
Majhi further said the rich deposits of minerals like iron ore, bauxite, nickel, chromite, and coal, along with vast forest and water resources, have made Odisha a key player in India’s mineral and metal-based industries. Over the past few years, the Chief Minister said while we continue to rely on minerals and metals, we are now actively diversifying into new, fast-growing sectors. Odisha, he said, is emerging as a destination for industries that are human skill-driven and demand-focused, such as apparel, technical textiles, food processing, chemicals, petrochemicals, IT, renewable energy, green fuels and electronics manufacturing. The event marked a significant milestone leading up to the much-anticipated Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025. The Conclave, scheduled for January 28th and 29th next year in Bhubaneswar, will be an excellent platform for global businesses to explore Odisha and witness firsthand the vast potential that the state offers, Majhi said.
He urged the ambassadors to carry this message back to their countries and encourage the business communities to explore Odisha as an investment destination. Attended by ambassadors, high commissioners, consul-generals, trade commissioners, and senior diplomats from 34 countries, the event showcased Odisha’s vibrant industrial ecosystem and highlighted new investment opportunities to a global audience. Notable participating nations included Indonesia, Norway, Singapore, China, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, USA, Thailand, Vietnam, and the UK. In addition, nine foreign associations took part in the event, reflecting the growing global interest in Odisha. The event also featured an interactive session where ambassadors engaged in discussions about investment opportunities in the state. Speaking on the occasion, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain reinforced Odisha’s vast investment potential across various sectors and assured the ambassadors of the government’s commitment to creating a favourable business environment. State Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja noted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Odisha is rapidly becoming a global investment destination.
He invited international partners to explore opportunities in industries such as technology, tourism, and innovation, highlighting the state’s strong infrastructure, rich resources, skilled workforce, and progressive policies. The event also featured the release of a video showcasing the “Make in Odisha 2025” initiative, which demonstrated the state’s potential. Odisha’s Principal Secretary of Industries Hemant Sharma highlighted various sectors open for investment. Joint Secretary (States) at the Ministry of External Affairs, A. Ajay Kumar, and Managing Director of Invest India, Nivruti Rai, discussed investment trends in the region. The Ambassadors’ Meet successfully set the stage for Odisha to position itself as a key player in attracting global investments.
