New Delhi, Oct 2 (Agency) India said on Wednesday that it is following the situation in Sudan and that reports of attack on the residence of the UAE Ambassador in Khartoum is of serious concern. The MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in a statement, also said that inviolability of diplomatic premises in any conflict must be respected. “We are following the security situation in Sudan. Inviolability of diplomatic premises in any conflict must be respected and reports of attack on the residence of UAE Ambassador in Khartoum is of serious concern,” he said.
The statement comes as the UAE has accused Sudan’s armed forces of conducting an airstrike on the house of their ambassador to Khartoum. The Sudanese Army has denied this accusation. Sudan’s armed forces say that Abu Dhabi is supporting the rebel Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group. On Monday, the UAE said its ambassador’s post was attacked by a Sudanese military aircraft, condemning it as a “heinous attack”. The government in Khartoum, which is in the midst of a new push to retake the capital, has previously accused the UAE of supporting the RSF, with which it has been entangled in war for more than a year.
