Pune / New Delhi, Sep 19 (Agency) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday urged banks to lend a helping hand for the infrastructure projects in the country for achieving the goal of Vikasit Bharat by 2047 and also stressed on making the banking system fool-proof from hackers. Speaking at the Bank of Maharashtra’s 90th Foundation Day here, she urged banks to build robust and resilient digital systems to protect customers’ trust.
“You need to have a robust and resilient system, for which every now and then you need to make sure that the firewalls are adequate,” she said. Banks will have to play a crucial role in driving the agenda set by the Prime Minister, she added. Ms Sitharaman advised banks to conduct regular emergency drills to ensure preparedness in handling potential digital threats. Bringing the unbanked population into formal banking systems was also emphasised in her address as a key driver for inclusive economic growth.
