CM Shinde honoured with Global Agriculture Award

Mumbai, Sep 19 (FN Agency) Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was awarded the World World Agriculture Award for his work in the fields of environmental protection, sustainable development, and green Maharashtra, an official said on Thursday. The award was presented by the Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan on Wednesday. Thanks to the World Agriculture Award, Maharashtra’s sustainable agriculture efforts have been highlighted. This award has proven that Maharashtra has always implemented experiments in the agricultural sector, Radhakrishnan said.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Shinde said that he is dedicating the World Agriculture Prize given by the World Agriculture Forum to the hard working farmers of Maharashtra, assuring that steps are being taken for making Maharashtra number one state in the entire nation in the agriculture sector. Maharashtra Agricultural Value Commission Chairman Pasha Patel, World Agriculture Forum Chairman Dr Rudi Rabinge, and Asia Region Vice President of the Forum participated in the event. Prof. Williams Dar, Dr. Lindwe Simbada, Kenneth Queen, Forum India Director, Dr. M J Khan, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board Chairman Siddhesh Kadam, and Environment and Climate Change Department Principal Secretary Praveen Darade were present at the event.

Governor Radhakrishnan said that research is being done on new technologies related to agriculture in the state, which is proud to be creating happiness and economic prosperity in the lives of farmers through this innovative technology. Radhakrishnan said that despite numerous challenges like drought, water scarcity, floods, and climate change, Maharashtra has shown its strength and adaptability. “We have equipped farmers with advanced seeds, fertilisers, and modern farming tools, as well as trained them in innovative practices such as micro-irrigation. “He also said that collaboration with agricultural universities has increased the income by converting cutting-edge research into practical application.
