In major boost to Industrial development, TN Cabinet clears Rs 44,125 cr investments

Chennai, Aug 14 (FN Agency) In a major boost to industrial development that would continue to guide the State on the path of progress, the Tamil Nadu Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday took groundbreaking policy decisions by clearing cleared investments to the tune of Rs 44,125 crore by 15 firms in the State that would create 24,500 jobs. Besides, the Cabinet also gave its nod for three new policies–the Tamil Nadu Small Hydel Projects Policy, Windmills Repowering and Wind Life Extension Policy. Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu announced the clearance of investments from 15 firms taken at the Cabinet meeting to mediapersons at the State Secretariat. In a social media post tonight, Industries Minister TRB Raaja said ground breaking policy decisions were taken at the Cabinet meeting. “Cabinet nod was given for 15 large scale Investments, worth Rs 44,125 Crores which will provide over 24,700 #Jobs across #TamilNadu, at the #TNCabinetMeeting held today”. “Groundbreaking Policy Decisions Taken at the #Cabinet Meeting today !!! Further proof of how under the leadership of Honourable @CMOTamilNadu Thiru. @MKStalin avargal, the State continues to be on the path of progress because of fantastic policies”, he said. “We have cleared the State’s first-ever #PumpedHydro policy, ensuring grid stability and boosting storage and reliability of sustained #RenewableEnergy.

The Cabinet has also given the green light to environmentally friendly #MiniHydro projects, furthering our commitment to sustainability. Two major demands of the Large Industries and MSMEs in the green energy sector have been met: a. the wind energy #RepoweringPolicy and b. #Banking of renewables”, he added “To our partners in the #Textile and other Industries, our CM heard you, we will always stand with you”, Mr Raaja wrote. “I have personally been passionate about many of these initiatives and am extremely happy to have played a small part in these rollouts. Meanwhile, Mr Thennarasu said the investments cleared in the Cabinet would be made in a wide range of sectors like electronics, food processing, renewable energy and battery production and would create 24,500 jobs in the State. Among the projects cleared by the Cabinet included Sembcorp Industries’ Rs 21,340 crore investment in Thoothukudi district that would generate 1,114 jobs, Motherson Electronics’ Rs 2,600 crore investment in Kancheepuram that would create 2,200 jobs,; Milky Mist’s Rs 1,777 crore investment in Erode and another Rs 1,597 crore investment in Krishnagiri.
