Odisha Vigilance unearths huge assets from possession of former Chief Engineer

Bhubaneswar, Aug 12 (FN Representative) The Odisha vigilance on Monday unearthed huge assets during raids at various places in the state from the possession of former Chief Engineer, Roads & Buildings (Civil), Tara Prasad Mishra. The raids were conducted on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets by the former Chief Engineer, Roads & Buildings (Civil) by the vigilance team led by 12 DSPs, 12 Inspectors, 16 ASIs, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. Vigilance sources said the raids were conducted at nine places in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Jharsuguda.

The Vigilance team so far unearthed 10 high value flats in Bhubaneswar & Jharsuguda, 7 plots, deposits over Rs.2.7 crore, gold approximately 1.5 kg, cash over Rs.6 lakhs, 2 luxury cars including a mercedes benz, branded wrist watches during searches on properties linked to Mishra and his family members. This apart the Vigilance team recovered foreign currencies of USA, Thailand, Vietnam, UAE, Canada, Mexico, Malaysia & Singapore and found documents showing that the engineer had spent Rs.80 lakhs on Medical education for his daughter. Vigilance sources said other deposits and investments in shares & Mutual funds are being ascertained and the searches are still continuing.
