Bengaluru, Aug 10 (Agency) The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is transforming the landscape of the Chartered Accountancy profession with its innovative “AI in ICAI” initiative.Announced at the 56th Regional Conference of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) in Bengaluru, this initiative represents ICAI’s commitment to integrating artificial intelligence into the core of professional practice. CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President of ICAI, emphasised the profound impact of this initiative on the profession. “AI in ICAI is a leap into the future of our profession,” he stated.
The initiative is designed to empower members, students, and employees with advanced AI tools and resources, revolutionising their approach to work. A centrepiece of this initiative is the launch of CA GPT, a specialised platform that provides access to 16 distinct GPTs tailored to chartered accountants. Launched on July 1st, CA GPT assists members with complex queries, streamlines workflows, and offers students a comprehensive study aid for exam preparation. This AI-driven platform is set to become an essential tool for the community, delivering specialised content and tailored questions on a single platform.
To further integrate AI into the profession, ICAI has introduced a Certificate Course on AI for Members. Starting on August 21, this course offers chartered accountants a strong foundation in AI concepts, enabling them to effectively use these technologies in their practices. ICAI has also published a guide featuring 100 AI tools specifically designed for financial and accounting functions, providing members with practical resources for incorporating AI into their daily work. The “AI in ICAI” initiative marks a significant shift in the profession, demonstrating ICAI’s dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. CA.
Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal underscored the importance of continuous professional learning, highlighting that ICAI organises over 7,000 programs annually to keep its members up to date with industry developments. As the profession evolves, ICAI’s AI initiative positions chartered accountants to take on emerging roles in forensic accounting, non-financial reporting, mediation, dispute resolution, and international taxation. By embracing AI, chartered accountants are not just adapting to change—they are leading it.
