All-party meet discusses Bangladesh crisis

New Delhi, Aug 6 (FN Agency) The Narendra Modi government on Tuesday called an all-party meeting at Parliament House to discuss the political developments in Bangladesh that have led to the ouster and exile of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar briefed the meeting about the prevailing situation in Bangladesh and India’s stand on the unfolding situation in Bangladesh.In a post on X, he also shared photographs of the meeting at Parliament House. “Briefed an all-party meeting in Parliament today about the ongoing developments in Bangladesh. Appreciate the unanimous support and understanding that was extended,” he added.

Beside S Jaishankar the meeting was attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, among others. This comes a day after Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina fled the country amid ongoing protests over job reservation, leading to Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman taking charge.Meanwhile, Congress MP Manish Tewari has given an Adjournment Motion notice in the Lok Sabha, calling for a discussion on the political situation in Bangladesh and its implications for India.
