(On the occasion of 1st death Anniversary)
One year has passed since an extraordinary soul was lost. On this first death anniversary of Damodar Mohanty, I remember a life of my father that was a beacon of resilience, dedication, and inspiration. At the age of 102, his journey ended, leaving behind a legacy that continues to guide and inspire us. “A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.” Born in a small village, Damodar Mohanty dedicated his life to serving his country and community. As a young man, he joined the freedom movement, standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow revolutionaries in the fight for independence. His unwavering commitment to the cause of freedom earned him the respect of his peers and the admiration of his community.
After India gained independence, he had joined in the police force, where he served with honor and integrity for over three decades. As a retired police inspector, he became a symbol of justice and courage, fearlessly upholding the law and protecting the rights of the people. His dedication and professionalism earned him the prestigious Governor’s Medal for his exceptional service to the nation. After retirement, his spirit did not dampen; instead, he channeled his energy into uplifting the lives of those around him. As a social worker, he tirelessly worked towards improving the conditions of the underprivileged, advocating for their rights, and providing support to those in need. He touched the lives of countless individuals, bringing hope and light to the darkest corners of society. He also served as President of a National Political party in Nimapada for eight years, where he passionately advocated for political change and progress in the region.
In addition to his selfless service, he was an accomplished writer. With a passion for spirituality, he penned five profound books that touched the souls of readers. His writings delved into the depths of human existence, offering insights into the spiritual realm and guiding readers on a path of enlightenment and self-discovery. Damodar Mohanty’s contributions to society will be remembered for generations to come. His unwavering commitment to justice, his selfless service, and his profound wisdom will continue to inspire and guide us. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, courage, and a relentless pursuit of truth.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.” On this first death anniversary, I celebrate the remarkable life of Damodar Mohanty and the indelible impact on me. His journey from a freedom fighter to a retired police inspector, social worker, political leader and spiritual writer serves as a testament to the power of resilience, determination, and the influence one individual can have. Damodar Mohanty’s spirit lives on, reminding me to stand up for justice, serve others selflessly, and strive for spiritual enlightenment. As his youngest son, with whom he spent the last part of his life, profoundly touched by the legacy he left behind. My father was not just a figure of strength and wisdom; he was my guiding star, my constant source of inspiration. His teachings and love have shaped me into who I am today. “In the quiet moments, I still hear his voice, guiding me, comforting me, and reminding me of the values he held dear. His legacy is a light that will never fade, a beacon of hope and love that continues to illuminate my life.” May his soul find eternal peace, knowing that his legacy continues to inspire generations to come.
