In the heart of Bengaluru, at the majestic Vidhana Soudha, the atmosphere was electric as Governor Gehlot, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, and other esteemed dignitaries gathered.Against the backdrop of this iconic setting, they extolled the virtues of yoga, not just as a physical exercise, but as a pathway to mental serenity and emotional well-being.Governor Gehlot passionately described yoga as a holistic practice, seamlessly weaving together the threads of body, mind, and emotions to offer a profound sense of physical health and inner peace. Meanwhile, in Ballari, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accompanied by Labour Minister Santosh Lad and others, participated fervently in an event hosted by the Santosh Lad Foundation and Shvasa Yoga Samstha. This marked just one of many gatherings held across the state—from Hassan to Mysuru and Belagavi—where communities came together to embrace yoga’s teachings and its universal appeal.Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda added a personal touch to the day, sharing how yoga has been crucial in maintaining his vitality at the age of 91—a testament to its enduring benefits. DyCM Shivakumar spoke passionately about yoga transcending barriers of caste and religion, emphasising the Karnataka government’s commitment to integrating yoga into the education system.
Plans were unveiled to introduce yoga classes in schools and colleges under the auspices of the Ayush department, underscoring a forward-looking approach to holistic health.Not to be outdone, the BJP organised its own vibrant event at Jagannath Bhavan in Malleswaram, drawing participation from state president Vijayendra Yediyurappa and MLA Dr CN Ashwath Narayan.
