New Delhi, June 06 (Representative) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony is likely to take place on the evening of June 9, according to sources. Earlier, the ceremony was slated to take place on June 8. On Wednesday, Modi resigned and submitted his letter to President Droupadi Murmu ahead of his oath ceremony. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu on Friday, June 7, post noon and stake claim to form the government.
On Wednesday, the President had accepted the resignation of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, and urged him to continue in his post till the new government assumed office. The BJP with 240 seats has fallen short of the halfway mark but the NDA has comfortably crossed the magic number, winning 293 out of 543 seats in the Lok Sabha.
