New Delhi, May 6 (Agency) Heat wave conditions are likely to continue over south Peninsular India till tomorrow and abate thereafter, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.According to IMD, “Heat wave conditions will prevail over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Vidarbha and interior Karnataka for today and tomorrow.” “Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Gangetic West Bengal today, Heatwave conditions over West Rajasthan, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh and Saurashtra from May 6-9,” the IMD said. The weather department further predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over Northeast India till May 7 and over East & south Peninsular India till May 9. “Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds up to 40 kmph very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 7 days,” the IMD said.Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and squally winds up to 60 kmph very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Gangetic West Bengal on May 6 and 7.
Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning & gusty winds (40-50 kmph) in East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Jharkhand and Odisha during 06th-09th; over Vidarbha & Chhattisgarh during next 5 days. Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Gangetic West Bengal on May 6 and 7 and Odisha on May 07th & 08th, the IMD said. Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal & Rayalaseema on the 07th & 08th; over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana & South Interior Karnataka on the 07th and over Kerala & Mahe on 08th & 09th May, IMD added. On hot and humid weather, the IMD said these conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Gujarat State during the next 5 days; Jharkhand on May 5&6; over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Karnataka & Kerala & Mahe from May 5-7; over Rayalaseema during 07th-09th May.
