New Delhi, May 4 (FN Agency) Responding swiftly to a distress call, INS Sumedha came to the rescue of an Iranian Fishing Vessel Al Rahmani, with 20 Pakistani crew onboard, and provided medical assistance to one of the crew members in the Arabian Sea. “In a swift response to a distress call, INS Sumedha, mission deployed for anti piracy operations in the Arabian Sea provided critical medical assistance to an Iranian FV (with 20 Pakistani crew), for a near drowning case of one of its crew members,” the Indian Navy said in a statement on Saturday.
The statement further said, “Responding swiftly to the distress call, INS Sumedha intercepted FV Al Rahmani in early hours of 30 April. Ships boarding team and medical specialists boarded the FV and rendered medical assistance to the crew member, who was experiencing laboured breathing and active seizure.”Post medical management, the patient was oriented, conscious and relieved clinically. “Relentless efforts by mission deployed units of Indian Navy symbolises its steadfast commitment towards safeguarding and assisting seafarers operating in the region,” the statement added.
