Vijayawada, Apr 5 (Agency) Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena has said that cash, liquor, and drugs worth Rs 258 crore have been seized since January 1, 2014 in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar held a video conference with AP CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena and other officials and reviewed the preparedness for conducting elections and enforcing of the Model Code of Conduct in the state. Speaking on the occasion, AP CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena said that since January 1, 2014, Rs 258 crore worth of cash, liquor, and drugs had been seized in Andhra Pradesh during the checking of vehicles across the state.
He said that Rs 11 crore in cash, liquor worth Rs 7 crore, and Rs 10 crore worth of gold and silver had been seized since the issuance of election notification. He said that 5,500 complaints had been received through c VIGIL and 3,300 FIRs had been registered. Mukesh Kumar Meena told the Election Commission of India that 132 integrated check-posts were set up across the state and 632 flying squads were formed. As many as 91 polling stations are located in the Maoist-influenced areas, he stated.
