Hyderabad, Feb 15 (Representative) Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Thursday cautioned that Illegal stocking and sale of ‘Physician’s Samples’ is punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act with imprisonment up to five years. The DCA officials cracked down on a godown illegally stocking a huge quantity of ‘Physician’s Samples’ intended for sale at Dilsukhnagar here, DCA Director General VB Kamalasan Reddy said in a release. Acting on credible information received through ‘ Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969’, Ranga Reddy district DCA officials raided a godown at P&T Colony, Dilsukhnagar on Wednesday and detected a huge stock of ‘Physician’s Samples’ intended for sale.
The seized 52 varieties of “Physician’s Samples,” include antibiotics, anti-diabetic drugs, anti-ulcer drugs, antihypertensive drugs, antifungal drugs, worth at Rs. 60,000 during the raid. The godown belongs to Kodakandla Srinivas and it is an unlicensed premises, where a huge stock of Physician’s Samples illegally stocked. Anjum Abida, Assistant Director, Ranga Reddy and J. Nagaraju, Drugs Inspector, Saroornagar, V. Ravi Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Balapur, L. Raju, Drugs Inspector, Hayathnagar are among the officers who carried out the raid.Further investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken as per the law against all the offenders, the release added.
