Renault India targets 130,000 units of sales in 2022: Venkatram

Hyderabad, Mar 3 (Agency) Renault India Operations Country CEO and Managing Director Venkatram Mamillapalle has said that the company has targeted to achieve 1,30,000 units of sales in 2022 with the market share of more than 4 per cent from the present 3.2 per cent. Talking to newsmen on the sidelines of a programme here on Wednesday, Mr Venkatram said that the company has rolled out a mid-term plan in 2018 and targeted to achieve double the sales from 75,000 units per year to 1,30,000 units in between 2018 and 2022.

So we are on the right path with Triber and Kiger, he said we should touch close to 1,30,000 units of sales in 2022. Mr Venkatram said that the company’s rural penetration has been increased to 37 per cent from 9.8 per cent in 2018. The company has appointed 500 Rural Sales Executives (RSEs) to provide employment to the rural people as well as company sales in rural areas, he said, adding that the company would appoint 500 more RSEs in the next two years. He said as part of expansion in dealerships, the company has appointed 120 dealers in 2020. With this, the total dealerships of the company is 500 (Outlets) and 475 is Service Centres in India. Of them, 32 dealerships in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh “ Our target is 700 dealerships by 2022″, he added.

The Company Managing Director stated that the sale of Triber is very good and expected the same in Kiger which was launched recently with price tagged between Rs 5.45 lakh and Rs 9.55 lakh. Speaking on Indian car industry, Mr Venkatram said the total passenger car sales were zero in April 2020. There was no recovery in May, June and July and there was a significant increase from August 2020. The expectation of passenger cars sales in India is 30 lakh (3mn) units in the financial year 2021-22. Of them, 50 per cent as SUV segment. If industry has achieved its target of 3 million units in the fiscal 2021-22, India can easily achieve 5-6 million units by 2028, he added. Earlier, Mr Venkatram handed over keys to 21 Kiger car owners out of 50 bookings in Hyderabad at a function held in a private hotel here.
