Vanchit Bahujan Agadhi asks Opposition parties to unite to defeat Modi

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dec 26 (Agency) Maharashtra president of Vanchit Bahujan Agadhi (VBA), Rekha Thakur, on Tuesday indicated that it is possible to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP in upcoming Lok Sabha elections only if the Opposition parties unite and enter the fray in these elections. Addressing a press conference here after the regional executive meet, she said that her party is all set to defeat Narendra Modi in upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state and for this, they have submitted a seat-sharing formula to other constituents of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). She said that considering gathering of huge crowd for the public meeting of the party, VBA is all set to defeat Modi in upcoming Lok Sabha elections, she claimed.

For that reason, VBA has given the formula to MVA as an alternative, she said and informed that accordingly, the four parties in MVA, namely Shiv Sena, Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar group), Congress and VBA, have decided that they should share 12 seats out of total 48 in the state equally in the Lok Sabha elections. She asked the MVA to consider their proposal and get back to them within two weeks. Ms Thakur further said that the Congress was able to win only one seat in the last election and now it does not have strength to fight Modi. The situation is no different with Shiv Sena and NCP, following the split in the two parties, she noted. She said that if the disadvantaged get 12 seats, three seats will be given to Muslim candidates, while the remaining seats will be given to the deprived communities by giving candidates from OBC, VJNT and other communities. Thakur accused BJP of using pressure tactics and showing fear of Enforcement Directorate to leaders of Opposition parties or sending them to jail for petty crimes.
