Hyderabad, Nov 15 (Agency) Former Union Minister and MP Manish Tewari on Tuesday asserted that Sonia Gandhi granted the formation of Telangana after witnessing the sacrifices and struggles of the youth. Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Tewari remarked, “Many individuals fought passionately for the establishment of Telangana, with hundreds making significant sacrifices. The three phases of the struggle persisted until 2014. In February 2014, a bill was introduced in Parliament. However, even after nine years of Telangana’s existence, the aspirations of the people remain unfulfilled. “The promises made by the BRS government to the people have not been fulfilled. BRS is considered a B team for BJP, consistently supporting the BJP in Parliament. Despite opposition from various parties, BRS endorsed demonetisation and supported controversial agricultural laws.
It also aligned with the center on issues related to federalism, even when it was detrimental to the states,” he criticised. Tewari highlighted a perceived family-centric rule in Telangana, asserting that the state’s financial health has deteriorated, with every resident burdened with a debt of one lakh and sixty thousand. He accused the government of corruption in various welfare schemes, including Dalit Bandhu and double-bedroom house initiatives. Tewari alleged financial misconduct in projects like Kaleswaram, Palamuru-Rangareddy, Secretariat, and Mission Bhagiratha, calling for the removal of the current government and the installation of a new administration in the upcoming election. He appealed to the people for change for the betterment of Telangana and emphasised the need for a government that prioritises public welfare over alleged corruption and mismanagement.
