CBI arrests an accused in connection with Bengal teachers’ recruitment scam

Kolkata, Oct 17 (FN Bureau) The CBI, along with another central probe agency investigating the alleged teachers’ recruitment irregularities in the state government owned schools, arrested yet another accused Partha Sen for tampering with the OMR sheets (Optical Mark Recognition) in the answer scripts of the School Service Commission, sources said on Tuesday. Sixty-three-year-old Partha Sen, one of the dozen accused persons, was with a private organisation – S N Basu Roy & Company – which was given the job for evaluation of the job applicants’ answer sheets and preparation of their OMR sheets.

He allegedly tampered with the answer scripts and had beenon the job since 2007. The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested him on Tuesday afterhours of grilling for his alleged non-cooperation with the probe, inwhich thousands of crores of rupees changed hands in the case of jobs for cash.Calcutta High Court-monitored probe came to know that qualified candidates have been deprived and incompetent candidates were given recruitment against cash. The accused, Partha Sen, was produced before the Alipore Court, which remanded him to the CBI custody for further investigation. The CBI told the court that the arrested person had tampered with the OMR sheets and created a list of 752 ineligible candidates out of whom 300 got jobs in 2017.
