Naveen launches “Drink from Tap” scheme in more Odisha areas

Bhubaneswar, Oct 9 (FN Representative) The Drink From Tap’ initiative was launched in five more urban areas and 149 wards covering 13 municipalities in Odisha on Monday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the scheme which will benefit 30,000 families in five urban areas and 10.5 lakh people in 149 wards across the state. Under the scheme, pure water will available for 24 hours for the people The ‘Drink From Tap’ scheme will be now operational in Rairangpur, Birmitrapur, Rajgangpur, Champua, and Nimapada urban areas.

The residents 149 wards in 13 municipal areas such as Bhuabenswar, Cuttack, Brahmapur, Rourkela, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Vyasnagar, Khodha, Jatni, Anandpur, Joda Barbil and Hinjilikatu will get the pure water without using any filter. International Water Association Executive Director Dr.Kalanithy Vairavmoorthy, who attended the programme, said the Drink from Tap programme in Odisha is an exceptional scheme. He said people from other states in the country and also other countries should know the success behind the Drink from Tap water programme which has been possible due to technological advancements.
