Chennai, Oct 9 (Agency) Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja believes his side has no apparent weakness and is well placed to go on and win the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Jadeja played a starring role in India’s first-up victory over Australia in Chennai on Sunday, by snaring the prized scalp of Steve Smith to finish up with impressive figures of 3/28 from 10 overs.It was a superb all-round performance from India and Jadeja feels his side is well placed for a strong tilt at winning a third World Cup title. “It is very special because this is my first World Cup in India,” Jadeja said on the latest episode of The ICC Review podcast alongside Dinesh Karthik and host Brian Murgatroyd. “The fans are very excited because our team is balanced in all areas.”There is nothing that we are weak in any particular area.”
More than 30,000 fans turned out at MA Chidambaram Stadium for India’s World Cup opener and crowds are expected to be even bigger when the hosts continue their campaign across the nation for the remainder of the tournament.Jadeja had special praise for the loyal Indian fans and said they have a major role to play in India’s World Cup tilt. “The energy of Indian fans, their confidence, and their unwavering faith in us are incredibly high,” Jadeja noted. “Whenever we play in India, for any series, they turn out in such large numbers that the entire stadium remains packed.”I find it very exciting to play in the World Cup in front of the Indian crowd. “Hopefully, we’ll perform well, reach the finals, and win the World Cup.”
