Farmers burning stubble shouldn’t get benefit of govt. schemes: Haryana PCB chief

Kaithal (Haryana), Oct 7 (FN Agency) Haryana State Pollution Control Board Chairman P.Raghavendra Rao on Friday said a database should be prepared in the district of such farmers who repeatedly burn stubble in their fields every year, and they should not be given the benefit of any government scheme.”Environmental pollution is harmful for all of us, hence it is the common responsibility of all of us to stop it. For stubble management, many schemes have been implemented by the government for the farmers. The income of the farmer who manages the stubble also increases.Rao was holding a meeting on the topic of stubble management and giving necessary guidelines.

If industrial units in the district also set fire to waste, then action should be taken against them as per rules. The committees formed in the district should continuously stay in the area to curb the incidents of fire, while also continuously making the farmers aware. Many farmers have made a name for themselves by earning money through stubble management. He said special surveillance should be maintained in the areas where non-Basmati crops have been grown, because there is a possibility of stubble burning in those spots.
