New Delhi, Sep 19 (FN Bureau) Reminiscing about India’s glorious past and aiming high for the future, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stressed for strengthening the economy and ensuring social justice for all.Addressing MPs in the Central Hall of Parliament, PM Modi said that reforms have to be carried out keeping in mind the aspirations of every Indian.”Indian aspirations must be at the helm of our decisions. We have to build an Aatmanirbhar Bharat in Amrit Kaal,” Modi said.While reiterating that India is well on track to become the third largest economy in the world, Modi laid emphasis on making world-class products.He noted that India is full of new energy and growing rapidly.”
Based on the available information and discussions with eminent people I can say with full confidence that India will become the third economy, though some people may be negative and pessimistic about it,” he said.He, however, underlined the significance of all-inclusive growth and stated that without social justice desired results may not be realised.Modi said aspirations of people are at perhaps 1000-year high. He said that India needs to work on a bigger canvas in the 25 years of Amrit Kaal.”I had said from the Red Fort that this is the time, and this is the right time to march ahead. Today, India has woken up with a new consciousness. India is brimming with new energy. This new consciousness and new energy can surely turn people’s dreams into reality,” he said.PM Modi proposed to name the old Parliament building as ‘Samvidhan Sadan’.Earlier, in his address at the Central Hall, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury listed out several challenges such as unemployment and rising inequality facing the country.
He noted that one of the key determinants taken into consideration for designating a country as a developed nation is Human Development Index (HDI).”As far as this is concerned, India has been lagging behind,” he said, taking a dig at the Modi government.The senior Congress leader said that while India boasts of a sizeable youth population, high unemployment poses a significant hurdle to leverage demographic advantage.Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge remembered the great works and contributions made by leaders in the past. He also thanked Prime Minister Modi for recalling Jawaharlal Nehru’s post-Independence speech in Parliament.”I am thankful to the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) for recalling yesterday the historic ‘Tryst with Destiny’ speech of Shri Jawaharlal Nehru Ji,” Kharge said taking jibe at the PM.After the function at the Central Hall, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the MPs to the new parliament building.“We are going to enter the new Parliament building today and do the Shri Ganesh (start a new journey) for a new future,” Modi had said earlier in his address.
