Bina (MP), Sep 14 (Agency) Emphasising that Bharat should aim at minimising imports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that the country’s manufacturing sector – which must be further modernised – is witnessing rejuvenation even as the nation’s requirements are changing. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 50,700 crore including a Petrochemical Complex at the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd’s refinery in this town of Bundelkhand region’s Sagar district. Addressing a public meeting, he said, “Rs 50,000 crore is a whopping sum that exceeds budgets of some individual states. Thousands of youths will thus gain employment; the dreams of indigent and middle-class families shall transform into reality.
This complex will help Bharat achieve self-reliance.” The refinery – to be developed by incurring an expenditure of approximately Rs 49,000 crore – will produce about 1,200 kilo-tonnes per annum of ethylene and propylene that are vital components for sectors such as textiles, packaging and pharmaceuticals. During the programme, Modi also laid the foundation stone of a Rs 460-crore Power and Renewable Energy Manufacturing Zone in Narmadapuram district; two IT parks (Rs 550 cr) in Indore; a Mega Industrial Park (Rs 460 cr) in Ratlam and six industrial areas in Shajapur, Guna, Mauganj, Agar Malwa, Narmadapuram and Maksi at a cumulative cost of roughly Rs 310 crore.
