Bengaluru, Sep 6 (Agency) Amidst Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara questioning the origin of Hinduism, Karnataka BJP leader and former Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Wednesday said the roots of Hinduism goes thousands of years back, and it is the base of all religions. “Nobody can decipher our roots of Hinduism. It goes thousands of years back, unlike other religions which have come into existence later. It is the base for all religions, and from this, all the diversions have taken place,” he told reporters here. Dr Parameshwara had questioned the origins of Hinduism in a speech made at an event in Koratagere on Teachers Day celebrations. Former Minister and BJP leader Dr CN Ashwath Narayan took on Dr Parameshwara saying that it does not augur well for him to be arrogant and asked if he has any courage to make any comments against other faiths. Narayan also alleged that the Congress leaders are under the influence of Leftists and nurse the intentions of destroying the culture and tradition of Bharat.
“He (Parameshwara) should realise that such arrogance is not good for him. He is a learned person. If he has got any guts, or clarity, let him speak about other Dharma. Let him not insult our Dharma. If he is not happy, let him quit this Dharma and be elsewhere; who is stopping him? Let him change his name,” he said. Dr Parameshwara earlier had sparked a huge controversy by saying, “Many religions have emerged in the history of the world. Jainism and Buddhism originated here. When Hinduism originated, and who created it is still a question. Buddhism originated in our country. Jainism originated in our country. Islam and Christianity came to our country from abroad.” These remarks were made in the heat of Udaynidhi Stalin’s remarks against Sanatana Dharma. He had compared Sanatana Dharma to diseases like Malaria and Dengue, and called for its annihilation. The BJP has been criticising the INDIA bloc for its anti-Sanatana Dharma and Hinduism, painting it as a Hindu-Virodhi alliance.
