“One Nation One Election” will be disaster for multiparty parliamentary democracy: Asaduddin Owaisi

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (FN Agency) Asaduddin Owaisi, President of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has voiced his concerns, stating that the “One Nation One Election” initiative could spell disaster for the principles of multiparty parliamentary democracy and federalism. In a tweet, while referring to the notification, Owaisi remarked, “This is the notification appointing the committee that will look into #OneNationOneElection.

It is clear that this is merely a formality, and the government has already made up its mind to proceed with it. ‘One nation one election’ has the potential to adversely impact multiparty parliamentary democracy and federalism.” Owaisi also added, “Modi had to reduce gas prices because of the upcoming state elections. He envisions a scenario where, if he wins elections, he can carry out anti-people policies without being held accountable for the next five years.”
