Chennai, Aug 24 (FN Agency) A day after the Lander Module (LM) onboard the third Lunar Mission Chandrayaan-3 landed on the south polar region of the moon successfully that made India the first Nation to achieve this significant and monumental milestone, ISRO on Thursday evening said all activities were on schedule and the LM’s payloads were turned on. It also said the Rover, which was deployed into the moon’s surface by the LM after successful soft landing, has commenced its mobility operations. ISRO also released the moon’s image captured by Lander Imager Camera just prior to touchdown.
In a social media post, the Indian Space Agency said “Chandrayaan-3: All activities are on schedule. All systems are normal.” “Lander Module payloads ILSA, RAMBHA and ChaSTE are turned ON today”, it added. “Rover mobility operations have commenced”, it said, adding, the SHAPE payload on the Propulsion Module, which along with LM got separated from the spacecraft on August 17 and embarked on their separate journeys, was turned ON on Sunday.ISRO@isro”. ISRO also released a video saying “Here is how the Lander Imager Camera captured the moon’s image just prior to touchdown. After the rover was deployed, it said “Chandrayaan-3 ROVER: Made in India. Made for the MOON! The Ch-3 Rover ramped down from the Lander and India took a walk on the moon !”.
