Shimla, Aug 10 (FN Agency) Amid the rain fury the state is yet come out from deluge the Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla cautioned the state to not mess with nature or ready to pay the heavy price for it. The statement was made by the governor giving clarion call to the state while inaugurates 74th Van Mahotsav at Bafh village in the outskirt here on Wednesday. Warning about the consequences of messing around with nature Governor said state is blessed by nature as Himachal have immense scenic beauty. But, when we mess with nature, we have to pay heavy price for it. “Development is the need of the hour but at the same time environment concerns should also be kept in mind besides preserving our rich forest wealth”, Shukla was quoted saying in a press statement issued after the Van Mahotsav. The statement made by Shukla at the high time is alarming calls to relentless pursuit and exploitation of natural wealth in the state and Government must mends its policy especially for the hill state by contemplating over the vigorous problem mainly related to man made reason failing to which spree of natural calamities ceased unfold itself.
Governor is not alone in cautioning the Government and People for adopting minute balance between so-called rampant and unsustainable developments wreaking havoc in the state. Various pro-environment and nature groups are also blaming the authorities to alleged criminal offences, adopting negligence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in construction of Four lanes and mega Power project along the catchment areas of major rivers and dumping muck into downstream of massive dams and hydro projects and tunneling. Importantly, Himachal Pradesh is facing huge loss of property and life during current season as according to government own estimate loss of Rs 6731 Cr have reported as 83 landslides and 53 flashfloods have occurred in state mounting to death toll of 231 People and 272 suffered injuries.”More than fifty percent loss caused by the rain account two public works department and National Highways authority 40 percent two Irrigation and Hydro power and electricity schemes.
