Delhi govt announces new circle rates for agriculture land

New Delhi, Aug 7 (FN Bureau) Delhi government has decided to change the circle rate of agriculture land in Delhi. Delhi Minister Atishi said that the government has decided to increase it to Rs 2.5 crore to 5 crore/acre as compared to Rs 53 lakh/acre for 15 years. Atishi, addressing a press conference here, said the government has decided to change the circle rate of farmers agriculture in Delhi. The rates will increase to Rs 2.5 crore to 5 crore/acre as compared to Rs 53 lakh/acre for 15 years. With this decision of Delhi government, the farmers will now get the right price for their agriculture land according to the market rate, she said.

“If the government acquires agricultural land for any infrastructural project, then the farmers will get the right compensation,” said Atishi. This marks the first instance of a circle rate increase for agricultural land since 2008, after 15 years. Since assuming power in 2013 and 2015, the Delhi government had been persistently striving to elevate the circle rates for agricultural land. The process faced obstacles due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Delhi government communique said. Previously, agricultural lands across Delhi had uniform circle rates, however, they have now been delineated on a district basis. Moreover, they have been categorized into Green Belt Villages, Urbanized Villages, and Rural Villages. In the South and New Delhi districts, the circle rate for agricultural land will peak at Rs 5 crore per acre. This proposal will now be forwarded to the Lieutenant Governor (LG) for his approval, the statement said. Taking to twitter, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote, “The farmers of Delhi have been demanding for a long time that the rates of their agricultural land be increased. A few years ago, we also increased them, but due to some reasons, they could not be implemented at that time. Today, I am happy to inform all farmers of Delhi that your demand has been fulfilled.”
