Gorakhpur, July 24 (Representative) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday announced that an international stadium on an area of 150 acre will be constructed in Gorakhpur along with a Kalyan Mandapam equipped with all the facilities for organising auspicious events in the poor families. The CM performed bhoomi pujan and laid foundation stone of a mini sports complex to be built on two acres at a cost of Rs 6,17,80,000 from his MLA Nidhi Nidhi in Bhati Vihar Colony. Along with this, he also laid the foundation stone of 42 development projects worth Rs 72 crore including Ramgarh Taal Ring Road (two lane) to be built at a cost of Rs 44.13 crores. He said that weddings or other auspicious functions are often seen being held by putting up tents on the road itself in urban areas, which causes a lot of inconveniences to people. In view of this problem, he directed the Municipal Corporation and Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) to set up a Kalyan Mandapam, where poor people with lack of resources will be able to hold their auspicious events.Kalyan Mandapams, equipped with all necessary facilities, including a hall, guest room, parking, lawn with a capacity to accommodate 250 to 300 people, will be built at six different places in Gorakhpur city. The setting up of Kalyan Mandapam will cost Rs 1 to 1.5 crores.Yogi said that the government is determined to promote sports and sports persons and will build the first Mini Sports Complex in Gorakhpur in addition to an international stadium in an area of 150 acres at Baghagada. “The action plan will be prepared soon and further action will start,” he said.He said that the mini sports complex is a new gift for the youth of Gorakhpur for which Rs 3 crore has been provided from his MLA fund. “The Mini Sports Complex will have a 300 meter synthetic running track, basketball court, indoor badminton court, lawn tennis court, volleyball court and table tennis court along with a rifle and pistol shooting range, nets for cricket practice and a multi-purpose hall.” he said.

The CM directed the GDA officials to get the complex constructed within the time limit and also take suggestions from the sportspersons for the development of sports facilities. “After the construction of the mini sports complex, an MoU should be signed with the Sports department for getting better coaches,” he said.He said that an action plan is also being prepared for the revival of Pakki Bagh and wrestler Janardan Singh’s akhada.Yogi said that 9 years back mini sports complex was a dream but today it is a necessity and reality. “Activities like Khelo India, Sansad Khel Kumbh, Fit India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have created new awareness in the field of sports. Today, players are being encouraged by establishing stadiums in every district of UP, mini stadiums in every development block, playgrounds in gram panchayats, open gyms in villages and parks,” he said.He said that apart from giving cash prizes to medal winners in Olympics, Asiad, Commonwealth, World Championships, the government is also linking them with government jobs. “Recently, 500 players were given appointment letters. Players are getting jobs on posts ranging from deputy SP to constable in the police department,” he said. The CM said that with the construction of Ramgarh Taal two-lane ring road, the crowd of Circuit House-Padleganj road would get space all around. “This will not only make transportation easy, but tourism will also get a boost. Tourists will be able to see the beauty of the lake from all around,” he said.Referring to the rejuvenation of 63 basic primary schools to be done by the GDA, he said that facilities of buildings, flooring, furniture, toilets, pure drinking water, smart classes and libraries would be made available in these dilapidated schools. He said that in the past he had contributed from his MLC funds for furniture in schools.

Yogi said that it is a new Gorakhpur with changes visible everywhere. “A person who came here five years back would not be able to recognise the city. In Gorakhpur, there is AIIMS on one hand and a fertilizer factory on the other. There is connectivity of four-lane and wide roads on all sides. There is innovation everywhere whereas earlier filth and gang war s had become the identity of Gorakhpur,” he said. Motivating all the people for wide participation in the cleanliness survey, he said that along with cleaning the house and outside, they must not throw garbage in the surrounding vacant plots. “Plastic-free Gorakhpur and cleanliness should become our identity. Cleanliness will also give us freedom from diseases,” he said. The CM appealed to all the people for plantation and conservation of plants, emphasising that a record of plantation of 30.21 crore saplings took place on a single day. “Plantation is very important to prevent carbon emissions and control pollution,” he said. On the occasion, he also felicitated the beneficiaries of PM Swanidhi Yojana and PM Awas Yojana by giving them loan sanction letters and symbolic keys of their houses. He also had intimate dialogue with them regarding employment and housing. Prior to this, the CM performed Bhoomi Pujan of the Mini Sports Complex amid chanting of Vedic hymns and planted a sapling of Maulshree and gave the message of environmental protection.
