In 2011, the state government filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against this verdict and asked for permission to give house plots without conditions.
The Supreme Court passed an interim order in 2017 while the investigation was going on. Seventy acres of land was ordered to be acquired by the Journalists. The Supreme Court suggested that the land be developed and should not take any construction work. About 32 acres of land with ups and downs, boulders in Nizampet was acquired in 2018 while the land to the extent of 38 acres in Pet Basheerabad was not acquired. In its final judgement on August 25 last year, the Supreme Court ordered that the government handover 38 acres of land in Pet Basheerabad for allotment to journalists. The Supreme Court also ruled that land can be developed, plotting completed and houses built. Even after 10 months of the final verdict, the state government has not handed over the said land to the society. As on now, out of 1100 members of the society, 62 have expired due to tension and other reasons.
