Hyderabad, July 14 (FN Agency) Dr Mohana Krishna Reddy Mudiam, Senior Principal Scientist of CSIR-IICT took over charge as Director of the Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT) on Thursday. A statement here on Friday said IPFT established on May 31, 1991, is an autonomous Institution under the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals (DC&PC), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India and a registered Society under the Societies Registration Act–1860. IPFT is the only Institute of its kind devoted to the development of state of art user and environment-friendly new generation pesticide formulation technologies. Dr Mudiam has more than 20 years of experience in the area of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry.
He is best known for his exemplary multi-disciplinary skills to provide solutions in Environmental, Food, Forensic, Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences through analytical and metabolomics approaches. He authored more than 105 publications with citations of more than 3800 (h index 38). He completed his Master in Chemistry from NIT Warangal in 1999 and PhD (Biochemistry) in 2005 from CFSL, (Osmania University) Hyderabad. He was associated with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories in 2000, CSIR-IITR (2005-15), Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions (2007-08), CSIRO Australia (2014) and CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad (2015-23). At CSIR-IICT, he is instrumental in the establishment of NABL accredited facility for APIs characterization and GLP compliant facility for biologics and biosimilar characterization. He guided 11 PhD students and presently 09 students are pursuing their PhD with him.
He is instrumental in conducting several analytical skill development programs and seminars at National and International levels. He is the recipient of the BRSI Industrial Medal Award, the CSIR Technology Award for Innovation for his work on COVAXIN, a Fellow of the Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences (FAPAS), a Fellow of the Telangana Academy of Sciences (FTAS), Dr AK Singh Memorial Young Scientist Award, ABAP Young and Senior Scientist Awards and several other appreciations. He visited countries like the USA, Germany, France, Australia, China and Taiwan as part of his scientific collaborations and/or assignments. On behalf of the institute Director, Dr D Srinivasa Reddy congratulated and expressed his happiness for being appointed Dr Mudiam as Director of IPFT and wished him more success in the future.
