Hyderabad, July 3 (Representative) Telangana and Andhra Plastic Manufacturers Association (TAPMA) will organize the four-day HIPLEX International Plastic Expo -2023 at Hiitex here from August 4. The South and Central India’s biggest Expo, is expected to generate INR 500 crore in business and around 500 exhibitors from across the world will showcase their latest technology and machinery used in the manufacturing of raw materials and various products made of plastics and Petrochemical, TAPMA President Mr Vimalesh Gupta along with Past President Mr Anil Reddy Vennam, HIPLEX Chairman Mr BL Bhandari and HIPLEX advisory Committee Chairman Mr Suresh Chandra Lahoti said at a press conference here on Monday. These exhibitors comprised Process Machinery, Printing & Packaging, Raw Materials, Moulds & Die, Post Processing Equipment, Quality Testing Equipment, Finished Products and R&D, Gupta said the Per Capita Consumption of plastics is still low at just 32 to 35 kgs when compared to the world average of 65 kgs and the US consumption of 75 kgs. This augurs good scope for growth, the TAPMA President said. Despite imposing a ban on single use plastics, the consumption in raw material increased between 11-12 per cent, he informed.
Plastics among other materials are the easiest to recycle compared to all other materials. India records the highest amount of plastics recycling. 70 percent of plants produced are recycled in India. Thanks to the good rag-pickers system in India a major component of plastic waste generated is recycled, he added. The overall market growth in the plastic industry was double digit and the plastic industry continues to grow even if there are alternatives to plastics, said Anil Reddy. This year there will be an exclusive pavilion for recycling and startups working in this space, informed Suresh Chandra. Bioplastics, 3D printing, circular economy, smart plastics, and additive manufacturing are some of the most significant trends and opportunities in the industry, creating new opportunities for growth and innovation. The plastic industry continues to thrive despite all sorts of hardships, said Bhandari. Expecting nearly 50,000 footfall, the four-day expo is supported by the Telangana government.
