Oppn parties with Cong which tried to smother democracy: Yogi

Noida, June 25 (Agency) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday attacked the opposition parties attempting to forge alliance ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and said that these parties are with Congress that tried to smother democracy by imposing emergency. Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating and laying foundation stone of 124 development projects worth Rs 1,719 crores of Noida and Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, Yogi said that people doing politics in the name of Jai Prakash Narain and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia are today with Congress that tried to smother democracy by declaring emergency in the country on June 25, 1975. He said that on the one hand India has touched new heights of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the other Pakistan that separated from India is struggling for every loaf of bread and will have the same fate which the mafia had in UP because of its misdeeds. The CM paid tributes to the memory of all known and unknown persons who fought to safeguard the country’s democracy.

He said that Samajwadi Party (SP), Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Janata Dal (United) and other parties that claim to be followers of JP are colluding with those who were responsible for strangling democratic values during the emergency period. He said, “SP has a long history of extending support to other parties even without being asked for the same. “Congress did not want the support of SP in 2004, but still the party supported them.” Yogi said that in the last nine years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a new direction to the country under his visionary leadership with a positive thinking. He said that Kashi with its divine aura is gaining prestige on the global platform and Ayodhya too is shining as a new Ayodhya. “Every devotee of Sanatan Dharma and well wisher of India in the world is waiting for January 2024, when Lord Ramlala will sit in his grand temple,” he said. The CM said that India is the only country which has been giving free ration facility to its 80 crore citizens for the last three and a half years. “If India’s journey continues like this, by 2027 it will become the world’s third largest economy,” he said.

He said that in the Amrit Kaal of independence, India is dominating the global stage with two major achievements-getting the presidency of G-20 and emerging as the fifth largest economy in the world. Yogi said that people’s perception about Gautam Buddha Nagar has changed in the last six years. “Earlier people living in Delhi used to hesitate to come to Greater Noida, but now the situation has changed. Now people from every corner of Delhi and the country want to come to Noida and Greater Noida where the Medical Device Park, Jewar International Airport, Film City and infrastructure facilities are coming up,” he said. He said that solving the problems of farmers is his government’s top priority. “We will solve their problems through dialogue. The anti-development and negative forces should not be allowed to come in between. Those who play with the future of the coming generation should not be allowed to succeed. We will solve all the problems arising between buyers of properties and builders very soon,” he said. During the event the CM flagged off and handed over new Bolero vehicles to the Noida Police for the safety of the public. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also exchanged symbolically between Noida Development Authority, Greater Noida Development Authority and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for municipal solid waste management.
