IT raids on residences of two Telangana BRS MLAs and MP for alleged tax evasion

Hyderabad, June 14 (Bureau) Income Tax department officials on Wednesday conducted raids on the residences of three ruling BRS party leaders including two MLAs and MP for alleged tax evasion and illegal cash transaction activities. The IT officials formed different teams and conducting raids on the residences simultaneously in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and other places in Telangana by collecting details about the business activities of the BRS party MLAs and MP.Amid tight security, the raids took place on the residences of Medak MP Prabhakar Reddy, BRS party MLA from Nagarkurnool Marri Janardhan Reddy and Bhongir MLA P Shekhar Reddy. Sekhar Reddy is involved in multi-business including real estate (construction of residential and commercial properties in Bangalore) along with his family members in Hyderabad and Bangalore under the title of Theertha Group.

The company is also said to be involved in mining business in South Africa, solar Energy, lithium battery business and operating IT firms. The searches were also conducted at premises of two IT technology companies in the city. The searches are still continuing and the officials are verifying the details of income sources, especially immovable properties. IT officials also raided Medak MP Prabhakar Reddy’s residence and his offices. He is running a travel business in the city and state. The Income Tax officials also conducted raids on the residence of Nagarkurnool MLA Janardhan Reddy in the city, who was involved in real estate business activities.
