Cow slaughter prohibition should be strictly enforced in Telangana: VHP

Hyderabad, June 13 (FN Bureau) Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday demanded strict implementation of cow slaughter prohibition laws in Telangana. “It is atrocious to kill cattle, which are the backbone of the dairy industry, agriculture and rural way of life, against the law,” VHP State Secretary Pandarinath, Goraksha Dakshin Bharat Pramukh Yadagiri Rao, Goraksha Telangana Rashtra Sami Ramesh, VHP Pracharam Pagudakula Balaswamy, Bajrang Dal State Convener Siva Ramulu said in a joint Press conference here after releasing posters of the dharna to be held on Wednesday. They expressed concern that cow killings continued in the state on the occasion of Bakr Id every year.

They accused the state government for failing to stop the killings, even though it is a legal offense to brutally slaughter farm animals. In honor of Bakri Id, the state government is setting up check posts in case of transportation of cows and cattle, they said. They warned that Bajrang Dal will enter the ring if the police act negligently during Bakr Id. The VHP leaders also warned that they will set up their own check posts under the leadership of Bajrang Dal and stop the smuggling of cows.
