Chennai, May 11 (Agency) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin today said the reshuffle of portfolios of some Ministes was effected for administrative reasons. Ahead of the MoU signing event, Mr Stalin effected major reshuffle of portfolios of five Ministers after three time MLA from Mannargudi TRB Raaja was inducted into the Cabinet and was made the new Industries Minister in place of Mr Thangam Thennarasu who was made the Finance Minister. Speaking after car makers Hyundai inked a pact with the Tamil Nadu government committing Rs 20,000 crore investment over a period of ten years (2023 to 2032) in his presence, Mr Stalin said even if there was change in the portfolios of Ministers, the support extended by the State government for industries department and the steps taken by it for industrial development, will always continue. The Chief Minister said it was Mr Thangam Thennarasu who brought in huge industrial investments to the state and exuding hope, he said the newly inducted Industries minister Mr Rajaa also will work on bringing in more investments to to attain the goal of TN becoming a USD one trillion economy state by 2030.
Recalling the investments made by Hyundai over the years and the roll out of one crorerth car from its plant at Irungattukottai, 45 km from here by him, Mr Stalin said the company, since the launch of its first plant in 1996 by the then CM M.Karunanidhi, Hyundai has so far invested Rs 23,900 crores in the State. He said with today’s committed investment of Rs 20,000 crore, about 15,000 people will get direct jobs and another 2.5 lakh people will get indirect jobs. In his first official event after becoming Industries Minister, Mr Rajaa said “Hyundai is our (TN Govt) long term friend and Tamil Nadu is a fantastic place for any other company and let’s work together to make our state happy and safe. Welcoming Hyundai’s investment, Mr Thangam Thennarasu said that Tamil Nadu is the best place for the Electric Vehicle market and its a milestone for Tamil Nadu in the industrial sector.
