New Delhi, May 10 (Agency) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged the voters of Karnataka to vote in large numbers to “enrich the festival of democracy”. He especially urged the youth of Karnataka to come out and exercise their right to vote in the ongoing assembly elections.In a tweet, the Prime Minister said “Urging the people of Karnataka, particularly young and first-time voters to vote in large numbers and enrich the festival of democracy”. The polling is underway in Karnataka on 244 assembly seats. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued an open letter to the people of the state and said “The dream of every citizen of Karnataka is my dream”.
PM Modi also urged the people of Karnataka to vote on election day to make the state “No. 1”. The BJP has fielded 224 candidates, the Congress 223 while the JD(S) has fielded 207. The counting of the votes will take place on May 13.The majority mark to form the government is 113 seats. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged the voters to exercise their franchise in large numbers in by-poll happening for Parliamentary seats. “There are by-polls happening for a Parliamentary seat in Punjab and for Assembly seats in Meghalaya, Odisha and UP. Urging voters in those constituencies” he tweeted.
