Mumbai, Apr 27 (FN Agency) The equity market remained firm for the fourth straight session on Thursday as the BSE Sensex rallied 348.80 pts to close at 60,649.38 following gains in Realty, Telecommunication and IT stocks overshadowed rising recession fears in the United States, ahead of the April series derivatives expiry. The Nifty rose 101.45 pts at 17,915.05 pts. The sense opened on a steady note at 60,315.56 pts. During the day it was spurted nearly 398 pts at 60,698.31 pts, days high, before closing at 60,649.38, surging 348.80 pts from its previous close. The Nifty registered days high and low at 17,931.60 and 17,797.90 pts respectively. In indices, Realty was a star gainer, up 1.57 pc followed by Telecommunication by 1.16 pc, IT by 1.15 pc and Technology by 1.01 pc.
The Mid cap gained by 0.52 pc and Small Cap by 0.62 pc. In 30 scrips,24 increased while 6 declined In 30 scrips, Bajaj finance was a top gainer, up 2.39 pc to Rs 6199.45 followed by Bajaj Finserv by 1.82 pc to Rs 1359, Infosys by 1.69 pc to Rs 1247.65, Bharti Airtel by 1.60 pc to Rs 786.10 and Kotak Bank by 1.37 pc to Rs 1904.25. The losers were Hind Unilever by 1.39 pc to Rs 2469.95, Powergrid by 0.90 pc to Rs 236.40, Axis Bank by 0.82 pc to Rs 880.50 and SBI by 0.38 pc to Rs 564.15.
