AP: Micro artist honoured for finding place in Guinness world records

Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), April 21 (FN Representative) A fifty-five-year-old miniature crafts sculptor and a micro artist Tarabathula Sai was honoured by Art lovers, for securing a place in Guinness World records for his three miniature art works in pure gold, at a special meeting held here on Friday. Sai, hailing from Peddapuram town near here, who by profession a traditional goldsmith but became a Miniature craftsman with a difference out of sheer passion and hobby, has shot into prominence by achieving a hat trick by securing a place in Guinness World records. Senior Journalist B. Satyam Babu, who chaired the meeting, and other art lovers lauded the artist describing him as a proud son of the soil who brought laurels to our country in General and Andhra Pradesh in particular.

The artist was honoured with shawls and bouquets by several organizations. Replying to felicitations , the Miniature artist Sai said that he was born in a traditional Goldsmith family to his parents Satyanarayana and Savithramma in Peddapuram and had his schooling and collegiate education up to degree at Peddapuram and joined the traditional profession assisting his father. He was married and blessed with two daughters –the eldest is doing her B tech while the younger is in MBBS. He got the rare recognition of finding a place in Guinness World records by his three major miniature art works in gold —smallest functioning mousetrap on January 2, 2017, smallest nautical knot measuring 5 cm(1.9inch) wide and 8 cm (3.14inch) long on December 28 2017, smallest wooden spoon of 7mm (o.27inch) on August 10 2018, smallest functional vacuum cleaner of 5.4 cms (2.13inch) of pen cap size on 10 December 2018. Sai said that he developed the skills on his own initiative and produced miniature art pieces, sculptures and articles in Gold and also using other materials including Pencil lead point.

He also said he created miniature holy Poona kumbham using 232 milligrams gold in two hours 36 minutes and 17 seconds, so much so the pot with flowers in 180 mgs gold, three butter flys with 150 milli grams, miniature ink pen with 452 milligrams gold, miniature compass with 464 milligrams gold – all less than three hours time each, the miniature crafts sculptor added. Referring to his latest work, Sai said that he had produced a miniature Oscar sculpture of 15 millimeter long within a record time of two hours as a replica of the award, using one gram of Gold, in appreciation of the RRR film Unit’s remarkable achievement of winning Oscar for the Naatu-Naatu song. `My life ambition is to produce more and more miniature art pieces in the years to come on the lines of Tally Batsman of England’, he added.
